Mr. Mose Sands, Jr., age 79, of Missouri City, TX, formerly of West Point, GA, transitioned on May 9, 2025 at Sugarland Methodist Hospital, Sugarland, TX.

Funeral Services for Mr. Mose Sands, Jr. will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. ET in the sanctuary of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1111 E. 10th Street, West Point, GA, with Rev. Travis Porter, II, Pastor, Rev. Charles Trammell, Sr., Eulogist.

Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Austin Street, West Point, GA.


Public viewing will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the M.W. Lee Mortuary.

Mr. Mose Sands, Jr., the son of the late Inell Tatum Sands and Mose Sands, Sr., was born November 1, 1945, Troup County Georgia. He transitioned on May 9, 2025, at Sugarland Methodist Hospital in, Sugarland, TX.

Mose accepted Christ as his Lord and savior and was united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church in West Point, Georgia. He received his education in the West Point Public School System and was a member of the graduating class of 1963, Harrison High School, West Point, Georgia. After graduating from high school he took up masonry at Thomaston Tech. in Thomaston, Georgia. He relocated to Louisville, Kentucky, where he was employed at Louisville Water Company, Louisville, Kentucky for 30 plus years. After locating Houston, TX he was employed with Alief Independent School District until his health failed.

Mose was a loving, caring person who always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed driving, bowling, traveling until health failed. His favorite teams were the Indiana Colts and the St. Louis Cardinals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Inell Tatum Sands and Mose Sands, Sr.;his loving sister, Gwendolyn Sands.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Barbara Lucas-Sands, Missouri City, Texas; children, Minister Erik R. (Filecha) Lucas, Fresno. Texas, Deana S.(Henry) Whitlow, Channel View, Texas; his daughters, Teresa Chambers, Atlanta, Georgia, Timandra Darden, Bronx, New York, and Wanda Lee, Louisville, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Albrandeos Frazier, Talandra Chambers, Brandon Lee, one loving sister, Anges Billingslea, West Point, Georgia; two brothers, Marvin (Arnetha) Sands, Marcellous (Frankie) Sands both of LaGrange, Georgia, a host of great-grandchildren, niece, nephews and other relatives and friends.
