In Loving Memory of Larry Eugene Branscomb
December 15, 1950 – April 23, 2025
Larry Eugene Branscomb, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025. Born to Miles Branscomb Sr. and Earline Phillips Branscomb. Larry was a devoted husband, father, brother, mentor, and friend.
Larry was baptized as a young boy at St. James AME church, laying a foundation of faith that would guide him throughout his life.
A 1969 graduate of William Henry Spencer High School and a 1981 graduate of El Camino College, Larry spent over 40 years serving as a behavior specialist, retiring in 2013 from Teen University in Phenix City, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carla Diane Carruthers Branscomb; siblings, Patricia Branscomb, Ricky Branscomb, Charles Branscomb, Gregory Branscomb; brother-in-law, Eugene “Gene” Griffin.
He leaves behind cherishing his memories his children, Damien Branscomb, Ashley Branscomb, Brandon Branscomb, Alma Branscomb, Megan Branscomb, George McDonald IV, Gabriel McDonald, Courtney McDonald, and Damon Southers; surviving siblings, Miles Branscomb Jr., Alan Branscomb, Janice (Clifton) Buford, and Deborah (Raymond) Carter; One uncle, Jimmy (Mary) Phillips; aunt’s, Betty Hamilton and Linda (Cal) Watson; Brother-In-Law, Richard (Cristi) Carruthers; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Lemons; lifelong friend and mentor, Braynard (Yvette) Atkins, J.S. (Marilyn) Norfleet, Patrick (Reba) Patterson, Edgar Buchanan and Mr. Anthony; 14 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, cherished family members and friends.
Larry’s resilience, wisdom, and dedication touched countless lives. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
The Memorial Service for Mr. Branscomb will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Progressive. Service will be live-streamed (see clickable link below)
