It is with profound peace that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Karen Kubacki, who peacefully passed away on March 24, 2025, at the age of 78.
Karen was born and raised in Chicago, IL. She and Dale met as children at Southshore Baptist Church, and their friendship blossomed into a relationship during their teenage years. They were married on July 6, 1968, and remained steadfast in their love and marriage that lasted for 56 years.
She attended college and received her bachelor's degree in education at Northern Illinois University. She became a teacher, leading and serving students in various schools. She left teaching in 1990 to start working at Christian Financial Concepts, a nonprofit organization that teaches the biblical principles of handling money. She eventually worked in their single-parent ministry. She later worked for the nonprofit ministry Mercy Tree Ministries, an organization dedicated to helping single parents get back on their feet, aiding in career development, and providing connection. She had a passion for helping others and loving her friends and family. More importantly, she loved reading the Bible and praying. She had a warm and infectious smile and loved to laugh. She was a fantastic baker, and we all loved indulging in Holiday goodies we were fortunate to receive. She loved her connection to her small group at her church and developed strong and lasting relationships with her Monday morning Ladies Bible study. She never wanted to miss a minute with her family and friends. She will be truly missed, but we know where she resides and that we will be with her one day. What a sweet reunion that will be, indeed.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Nordquist. She is survived by her husband, Dale Kubacki. She leaves behind her children, Michael Kubacki, Rachel (Dean) Sileo, and Peter (Janay) Kubacki. Her brother John (Judy) Nordquist, sister-in-law Pat (Greg) Dewar, and brother-in-law Joe (Lorraine) Kubacki. She was an aunt to Kathryn (Sabat) Santiago, Douglas (Rachel) Kubacki, Ruthie (Michael) Buehl, and Nicole Raphael. She was a grandmother to Jessica (Grant), TJ (Tish), Bo, Ellis, Wyatt, Rogan, Daniela, Sophia, Anthony, Mia, Annie, Cat and great-grandmother to Olivia, Madison, Beckett, Logan, Cadon, and Jeffrey.
