Mr. Willie Joe "Gebo" Gross, a resident of Valley, AL, died Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at his residence.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. (CST) from New Canaan Baptist Church, Highway 50, Camp Hill, AL, Rev. Justin Freeman, Pastor/Officiant and Rev. Tony Floyd, Eulogist.

Interment will follow in New Canaan Cemetery. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.

Public Viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. (EST) at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.

Mr. Willie Joe Gross was born October 21, 1943. He was the eldest child
born to the union of the late Mr. Jack Gross, Jr. and Mrs. Bessie Bell
Griffin Gross in Camp Hill, Alabama.


He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of New Canaan
Baptist Church of Camp Hill, Alabama. On January 7, 1966, he was united
in Holy Matrimony to Joan L. King. Affectionately called “Gebo”, he was a
devoted husband and father. He was employed as a Machine Operator in
the Textile Industry for 40 years. He enjoyed fishing and football. “Gebo”
was an avid Alabama Football fan. He also attended many games for
Valley High School sports. He was fondly called a senior member due to
his loyal attendance to see the Rams play.


He was preceded in death by: one son, Willie Anthony Gross; two sisters,
Debra Ann Gross, and Shirley (David) Anderson; two special aunts,
Frances Griffin and Annie Bell Griffin; and, one sister-in-law, Maggie
Gross. Mr. Willie Joe Gross died Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at his home
in Valley, Alabama.


He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife of 59 years, Joan L. Gross; six
children, Belinda (Eric) Woody, Stephanie (Donnie) Ray, Delana (Rev.
Tony) Floyd, Candace Gross (Victor Kline), Andor Demarcus Gross, and
Nicholas Gross; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six sisters,
Jeanette (Troy) Pitts, Betty (Willie) Taylor, Bonnie (Arthur) Taylor,
Brenda (Millard, Sr.) Dawson, Earnestine (Rev. Robert) Frazier, and
Kathleen (Richard) Russell; four brothers, Clinton Gross, Daniel Gross,
Bobby (Linda) Gross, and Alden (Sherrie) Gross; one aunt, Mildred
(Alfred) Ray, two very special cousins, that are more like sisters, Patricia
Thomas and Earnestine Maye; two very close friends, Norman Thomas
and Henry Lee Brooks, Jr.; and, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.
