Jim was a quiet man set in his own ways. But he didn't hesitate to go out of his way
for anyone. He was the light in the room. The reason you could find yourself
randomly smiling or laughing is because of something he had said or did. That was
Jim.
Jim loved seeing his grandkids coming to see him more than anything!! He was
overjoyed by his granddaughter Wren singing to him, drawing, painting pictures, and
sending videos. She did love her grandpa!!
Jim never given himself enough credit for how smart and capable he really was. He
taught himself and many others learned and looked up to him. And how he managed to
have four smart and beautiful daughters and sons. He loved them more than they
knew. He created a home and made out with a family. He is and ALWAYS will be a
“Dick”. The sweetest “Dick” you’ll ever meet. The most hardworking, determined,
driven, loving man. He was straight to the point, funny, a mechanic, outgoing,
enjoyed music and a animal lover. Love ya Dad!! Kasey
He loved being on the lake in his boat. He would get home from the race late at
night whether its 1 am or 3 he would go on the lake. His happy place. Jim was
employed by Bill Elliott racing for many years and built the cars, a fabricator,
foreman and used his hands to make the best body of a race car. He was on the
Crew Team front tires changer. They were a team and fast. He loved his job and all
the friends and family he made while working with and for Bill Elliott. A dream he
always had and he ran with it and succeeded!! One thing Jim worked, loved, and lived
for was Nascar til the very end.
Jim also restored cars, worked on tractor parts, worked on his own automobiles and
refinished furniture and worked on his boats. He always stayed busy with a project
of some kind.
May his happy and loving memories radiate in our hearts forever.
