Mrs. Claudia Jean Pompey, 79, Columbus, GA, passed Thursday, June 13, 2024, in Columbus. Mrs. Claudia Pompey was born in Abbeville, AL to the late Willie C and Hattie Lee Brooks.

She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Boards. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Stars and retired from L and S services, Fort Benning, GA. She had a wonderful personality that caused people to be drawn to her and she expressed her love through cooking.
Her unwavering kindness, generosity and resilience touched the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her, she will truly be missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Pompey; brothers, Robert Brooks, Horace Brooks, James Brooks, and James Wiggins.

Her survivors include: one son, James Pompey (Adrene); two sisters, Josephine Smith and Barbara Gibson (Charles); one brother, Ralph Brooks; three grandchildren, Jamie Cook (Timothy), Dianna Jones, Anthony Jones; four great grandchildren, Johnathan Pompey, Patrick Jones, DaRenta Jones, and Seankhira Jones; three great-great grandchildren, Aubri Jones, Mylakhi Lane, and Hezekiah Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives.

The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Pompey will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Canaan Baptist Church beginning at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery on Tuesday.

Visitation will be on Friday 12 until 6:00 PM at Progressive.
