Public Viewing is scheduled for Friday, February 2, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. (EST) at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.

Mrs. Sallie M. Harris was born on June 8, 1922 to Willie Chambers and
Mary Buchanon in Chambers County, Alabama. She was the sixth of
seven children. She was actually a twin.

She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and joined Bethel #2
Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Nathan Carr. She later
moved her membership to Mount Hermon Baptist Church under the
leadership of Rev. C. L. Daugherty.

She married Mr. Brock Copeland in 1939. To this union nine children
were born. After his departure, she married Mr. Gain Harris, and
gained five bonus children whom she loved and treated as her own.

Her passions were cooking and sewing. Caramel and Chocolate cakes
were two of her specialties—not to mention the good ole “butter roll”.
She was a good seamstress and made clothes for all of her children.

She was preceded in death by: three daughters, Rosie Sherman, Mary
Copeland, and Hattie Cue Jackson; two sons, Leon Copeland and
Brock Copeland, Jr.; three grandsons, Napoleon Jackson, Antonio L.
Willis and Kenneth Copeland; one granddaughter, Danisha Jackson.

She lived a good long life and was of sound mind until the end. We are
encouraged in knowing that she was saved, and filled with the Holy
Ghost. Her soul is resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Mrs.
Sallie Mae Harris departed this life on Monday, January 29, 2024 at
the blessed age of 101 at EAMC-Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley,
Alabama.

She leaves to cherish precious memories: her children, Ella (Jack)
Jackson, Opelika, AL, Dorothy Dozier, Conzo Copeland, Roger (Clara) Copeland, and Lenard
Copeland all of Valley, AL; her grandson whom she reared as her
own, Rev. Sylvester L. Hicks; her bonus children, Indiana Hughley,
Annie Lou Carlisle, Eva Crim, Albert Harris, and Oneal Lawson; 17
grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren;
son-in-law, Jessie J. Jackson; a special friend, Ms. Johnnie Jefferson;
and a host of other relatives and friends.

Dear Family. May my Heavenly Father continue to bless you and comfort you during this time of bereavement. I am so pleased that my Bigmama Sally lived a life filled with the love of Christ. I will always remember her as a person who loved others with a family heart. I am a granddaughter of her extended family and I will always cherish the time we spent together and the conversations we had. Remember that weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. Love always, Carolyn (Dozier) Parham and Family. Huntsville Alabama.
