MSG (Retired) James Kennebrew Lowe, Sr., of Columbus passed away quietly Monday at Piedmont North Medical Center at the blessed age of 92.
A native of Columbus and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Lowe, Mr. Lowe was a graduate of William H. Spencer High School and attended Columbus State University. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he retired after over 22 years of service, receiving numerous medals, awards and citations. He also retired from Civil Service after 20 years in the Supply Division at Ft. Benning, GA. A devout member of Holsey Chapel C.M.E. Church, he was a member of the Stewards Ministry and had taught Sunday School. He also had served as Vice Commander of American Legion Post 267. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Mrs. Bettie Jones Lowe and eight siblings.
Survivors include his devoted son and daughter, James K. Lowe, Jr and Kimberly F. Lowe; six sisters-in-law, Eva Lowe, Arthea Lowe, Queen Lowe, Rose Marie Taylor, Ruby Golatt and Sandra Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
MSG Lowe will be laid to rest with his wife at the National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, Alabama on Thursday, February 1, 2024 during a 1:30 PM Homegoing Celebration with Pastor Christopher M. Waller, officiating. Full Military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guards.
Visitation is Wednesday, 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
