Andrew Landrum Blackshaw, 74, passed away on January 20, 2024, at his home in Bluffton, South Carolina. He was born on April 22, 1949, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Joseph Lovejoy and Elfie (Landrum) Blackshaw.
Andy’s educational journey began at R.L. Hope Elementary School, followed by his graduation from North Fulton High School in 1967. He continued at Georgia Tech graduating in 1971 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and then a Masters in Mechanical Engineering in 1973.
Andy had been a registered professional engineer in Georgia since 1975. He got started with heat pump water heaters in the 1970’s as a principle with E-Tech, one of the main players at the time. In 1985, he started his own consulting business called ALM Engineering. It was named for his wife and daughters. He specialized in custom refrigeration design where he developed a number of patents. Some of his favorite projects were helping design Olympic Torches.
Without a doubt, Andy’s greatest joy and love was his family. He shared 52 wonderful years with his wife Malinda. Known as “Butterbean” by his 3 cherished grandchildren, Andy was grateful to be actively involved in their lives.
Andy is survived by his wife, Malinda Blackshaw; daughter, Allison Reese (Keene Jr); daughter Lindsey Roberts (Chris); grandchildren, Keene III, Lucy, and Emma.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 12 pm at LaFayette City Cemetery LaFayette, Alabama 36862 with a reception following at First United Methodist Church, 104 LaFayette St. N., LaFayette, Alabama 36862.
