Mr. Ernest Bailey was born February 12,1938 in Chambers County, Alabama. He was the son of the late Mr. Johnnie Bailey and Mrs. Maggie Holloway Bailey.

He departed this life on November 27, 2023, at his residence.

Ernest received his education in the West Point Public Schools. After high school he moved to Washington, DC and worked as a Saleman for Snyder Shoes, where he retired from with many years of service. In April, 2016, Ernest relocated to Lanett, Alabama to be with family and friends. After returning home, he joined the New Love Baptist Church, West Point, Georgia.

He is survived by his nieces, Gloria Stillwell, Carolyn (Michael) Meadows of Lanett, Alabama, Mary Johnson of West Point, Georgia, Maggie Calloway Hill of Roanoke, Alabama, Dorothy Taylor, and Anita Henderson of Dayton, Ohio; nephews, David (Betty) Calloway and Curtis Calloway of Roanoke, Alabama, Jimmie Carlisle of Lanett, Alabama, Johnnie Bailey, Peter Bailey, Richard Bailey of Dayton, Ohio; special Great nieces and nephews, Natalie Stillwell, April Stillwell, Tiffany (Vanquez) Hines, Brittney Meadows, Bryan Stillwell, David Calloway Jr., Tiffany Staples, Shanta Calloway and Sarah Calloway; special cousins, Barbara Autry and Ann Jones; special caregiver, Jerry Loyd.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. ET in the sanctuary of the New Love Union Baptist Church, 800 Austin Street, West Point, Georgia with Rev. Rowell Poole, Pastor, Eulogist, Rev. Jimmy Carlisle, Min. Mary Ann Barnes and Rev. Alford Booker, assisting. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery.

Public Viewing will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. ET until 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
