Ms. Shirlean “Seafood” McMullen, 84, of Chicago, IL, formerly of West Point, GA, transitioned on November 6, 2023 at her residence.

Shirlean Winston MuMullen was called home in the early hours of Monday, November 6, 2023. Shirlean was the daughter of the late Inez Gilliam and George F. Winston. She was born on June 25, 1939 in West Point, Georgia.

Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter (Michelle); three great grandchildren (Jaslyn, Jenesis, and Journey) and sister,(Gloria) . Shirley lived a large portion of her early life in West Point, Georgia and attended West Point public schools.

She was known to her family as"Seafood". Shirley moved to Chicago in the early 1960s. She met, and married George McMullen, and to this union four children were born. She was a loving mother and grandmother to all who knew her. If you knew Shirley you knew she loved to walk. She enjoyed watching wrestling, cooking, and spending time with her
grandkids. Many people would agree that the food she cooked was delicious. While living in Chicago, she always welcomed those who were in need.
She was an important figure in the community. She was known as Mama, Grandma or
Auntie to most. Family history was of great interest to her and keeping in touch with family was important as well. After living in Chicago for over 50 years, she dreamed about
going back home. That dream is now a reality.

She is survived by her three daughters ,Victoria McMullen, Lawanda McMullen, Tawny McMullen, and bonus daughter, Renee; 12 grandchildren, Tiera, Shakita, Kevin, Dalisha, Johnny, Jontae, Jasmine, Sema'i, Isaiah, Tania, Zaria, and Tiana; eight great grandchildren, Roosevelt Jr., Amya, Jontae Jr., Janiyha, Darielle, Janae, Dave, and Daviaye; special niece, Venita and nephew, Fred, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment will follow in the New Harmony CME Church Cemetery.

Final Arrangements are entrusted to M. W. Lee Mortuary.
