Obituary For Richard Hatcher Sr.

Carter Funeral Home humbly announces the transition of Deacon Richard Hatcher Sr., 82, of Union Springs, Alabama July 22nd, 2018.

Born January 4, 1936, Deacon Hatcher was a lifelong resident of Union Springs.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 28, 2018 from the sanctuary of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church of the Aberfoil Community.

The message of comfort and strength will be delivered by the pastor, Hawthorne Reed.

Interment will follow in the Elizabeth Baptist Cemetery.

Deacon Hatcher will lie in repose at the Church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.

Public visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, July 27, 2018 at Carter Funeral Home.

Richard Hatcher Sr. was born January 4, 1936 to the late Henry and Jennie Mae Hatcher in Union Springs Alabama.

He was educated in the Alabama school system. Richard was the loving father of three children: Fern Lorice Hatcher, Jennifer Hatcher and Richard Hatcher Jr.

Richard was an active member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church where in served the church as a Deacon for many years. He was an entrepreneur serving in a variety of positions including as school bus driver for Bullock County schools and as the landlord and owner of multiple rental homes on Hatcher Lane in Union Springs.

Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Fern Lorice Hatcher, his sisters: Henrietta Hatcher and Anne Lois Brown and his brothers, Willie and Henry Oscar Hatcher.

Richard departed this life peacefully on July 22, 2018 and leaves to cherish his memories his daughter Jennifer Hatcher of Phoenix Arizona, his son Richard Hatcher, Jr. of San Francisco California; five grandchildren: Lateisha Ousley, Gloria Hatcher, Traci Scott, Richard Hatcher III, and Mahri Hatcher; one great-grandchild Reese; two brothers Rufus Hatcher and James Hatcher, both of Detroit Michigan; two sisters Verdell Pickett and Bernice Ricks, also in Detroit Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
