Obituary For Betty Johnson Smith

Betty Johnson Smith, 86, on July 15, 2018, went to be with her heavenly father and her family and friends that have gone before her.

Betty was most recently a resident of Jacksonville, AL but she was a longtime resident of West Point, GA and the Valley where she provided a nurturing home for her husband and family. Betty was a full time homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ed Smith; her two daughters, Kathy Chamberlin, Fayetteville, GA, and Janet (Ricky) Moore, Jacksonville, AL; four grandchildren, Fred (Beth Edwards) Chamberlin, LaGrange, GA, Jamie Moore, Weaver, AL, Dee (Richard) Epton, Williamson, GA, and Rick (Lana) Moore, Millbrook, GA; two great grandsons, Joshua Epton, Williamson, GA, and Jackson Moore, Millbrook, AL; one brother Pete (Ann) Johnson, Grantville, GA, and three generations of nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Lizzie Johnson, her brother Herschel (Florine) Johnson, and her two sisters, Henrietta (Murray) Plant and Mary Ann (Bob) Ackerman.

Her celebration of life will be held in the sanctuary of Spring Road Christian Church, Lanett, AL on Wednesday, July 18, at 2:00 p.m. EDT; graveside services will follow at Marseilles Cemetery, West Point, GA. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, July 17, from 6:00-8:00 p.m EDT. at Bluffton Funeral Home in Lanett. The Reverends Larry Presley and David Bradshaw will officiate services.

Flowers or donations to Spring Road Christian Church will be lovingly accepted by the family.
