Sylvia was born to Mable Winston and Leonard James Price Jr. on March 1, 1945 at Valley Hospital in West Point, GA. She departed this life on September 13, 2023 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in, Stephanie (Eric) Herbert while on Hospice services.

Sylvia spent her formative years in Lanett Alabama. She was a lifelong member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she gave her life to Christ at the tender age of six. She continued to serve faithfully on several ministries until her health began to fail.

Sylvia was a member of the 1963 graduating class of Lanier High School. It was at Lanier High School that she met and married her High School Sweetheart, Samuel C. Winston.

Samuel and Sylvia would later marry on April 6, 1964 and from this union were born Roderick 1965, Stephanie 1966 and Keaton 1979. Samuel and Sylvia would continue sharing their love and marriage for the next 53 years.

Sylvia was preceded in death by the love of life, her husband, Samuel C. Winston; the second love of her life, her son, Keaton Winston; her mother, Mable Winston; father, Leonard James Price Jr; mother-in-love, Mamie Lou Winston; father-in-love, Morris Winston; sisters, Jenell Lee and Cherry Price; brothers-in-love, Robert and Clarence Winston, and Oscar Lee.

Sylvia leaves to cherish her memories to devoted sons, Roderick and Eric Herbert and daughter, Stephanie Herbert; granddaughters, Amaya Watson, Jasmine and Sydney Winston; grandsons, Rashard Jemison, Roderick Winston Jr, Cameron & Allton Watson, Joshua Winston, Jakealin Ross; great grandchildren, Noelle and Gabrielle Winston, Malia Moore, Levi, Brison & Roderick Winton III; nephews, Lorenzo (Geri) and Michael Gonzalez; brothers, Stan, Adrian and Marcus Price; brother-in-love, Maurice (Barbara) Winston Southfield Mi, sisters-in-love, Barbara Robinson of Philadelphia, PA, Diane Winston, Connie Wright, Lucy Robinson, and Patricia Davis all of Lanett , Alabama a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Winston will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 12 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Ebenezer Baptist Church 1006 North 10th Avenue, Lanett, Alabama with Dr. Jesse Walker, II, Pastor/ Rev. Bernard Williams, Officiant and Minister Rashard Jemison, Eulogist.

Interment will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery, 2235 22nd Avenue, SW, Lanett, AL 36863

Public viewing will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 2:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
