Victoria (Vikki) Rose Flannery was born on September 5, 1972. She passed away on May 27, 2023, after a four-year-long battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Glen and Rosa Castle of Maysville, Georgia.
Vikki enjoyed telling people she was born on Incirlik Air Force Base, Adana, Turkey. Glen was career military and she often referred to herself as a “military brat.” Upon Glen’s retirement in 1981, the family moved to Titusville, Florida. In 1986 they moved to Georgia, where she lived until 2013. After her divorce from the father of her three children, she moved back to Titusville and married her childhood sweetheart, Cory Flannery.
Not long before her cancer diagnosis, Vikki received her license as a real estate agent. She was excelling in that business until her health failed.
Vikki took in stride all that is required to be the mother of a special needs child. She became a “pro” at navigating through all the paperwork and red tape required to obtain equipment, supplies, and health care for her daughter, Julia. She felt God had “chosen” her to be the mother of a special needs child.
Just recently the Flannerys had moved to Georgia to complete the building of a new home. Vikki was looking forward to having a garden, chickens, and honeybees.
Vikki is survived by her husband, Cory Flannery, daughter Lauren Thomas (Jonah), daughter Julia Walker, son Carter Walker, grandson Liam Evans, mother Rosa Castle, several cousins whom she loved dearly and special friends. Vikki will be sorely missed by her loving German Shepherd guard dog, Breena.
A brief memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10th at 11:00 AM at the Gainesville First Church of the Nazarene at 1301 Otila Dr, Gainesville, GA 30504.
