Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. Spencer Johnson III, (63), of Union Springs, Alabama.

Mr. Johnson, known and loved as “Penny” Johnson passed away on February 8, 2023.

The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Saturday, February 18, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.

The Farewell Celebration at Graveside will be held Sunday, February 19, 2023, at 2:00 pm from the Lowfield Missionary Baptist Cemetery, Union Springs, AL. Pastor John E. Foster will deliver the message of comfort.

In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.

Spencer “Penny” Johnson, III was born on August 16, 1959 to Spencer Johnson, Jr. and the late Cora Johnson.

He confessed Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Silla Baptist Church. Spencer was preceded in death by siblings, Charles and Arthur.

Spencer’s memories will be cherished by his father, Spencer Johnson, Jr.; siblings, Annie (Fred) Jackson, Detroit, MI and Doretha, Union Springs, AL; and Jerome Johnson; very special nieces, Delicia and Kristal; a great-niece, Kenyonna, all of Detroit, MI; uncles, Hugh (Cassie) Williams, Cocoa, FL, Noah and Peter Williams, Detroit, MI; aunts, Josiephine Jackson, Detroit, MI and Zela Williams, MI; along with a host of cousins, very special family and friends.
