Obituary For Marion Hicks

Carter Funeral Home announces the restful transition of Mr. Marion Hicks, of Union Springs, Alabama.

Mr. Marion Hicks, 88, peacefully transitioned into eternity on January 27, 2023, in Riverdale, Georgia.

The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday February 03, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.

The Farewell Life Celebration will be held Saturday, February 04, 2023, at 2:00 pm from the Walton Chapel Methodist Church of Union Springs, AL. The message of triumph will be delivered by Pastor. Myron T. Christian. Associate Pastor, of the St. John Baptist Church Notasulga, AL.

In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.

On Friday, January 27, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia, Marion answered the call of God.

Deacon Marion Hicks was the son of the late Arnie C. Owens and James Carter, born March 30, 1934 in Union Springs, Alabama. He received his education in the Bullock County School upon completion, he moved to New York.

Marion was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life for 65 years, Annie Lucille (Christian) Hicks. After two months of being apart, God wanted them together again.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, wife, Annie L. Hicks; son, Ronald Hicks; grandson, Jermain Hicks; brothers: Jimmy L. Hicks and J.D. Owens, Jr.; sisters: Betty Louise Owens, Thelma L. Wilson, and Jessie D. Williams.

Marion’s memories will be cherished by his 3 children: daughters: Shirley (Michael) Daniels and Gina Marie (John) Aponte; and son, Walter Tarber; 3 granddaughters: Teneil Daniels and Coty Daniels, and Aaliah DeVico; 5 sisters: Lilly Holly, Lois Lane, Ethel (Edward) Adams, Addie Owens, and Dillye Jackson; special nephews and caregivers: Myron Christian and Ricardo Newby, Sr.; favorite nephew, Gary Hicks; special friends: Richard High and Reginald Freeman.

The Staff of Carter Funeral Home is honored to be selected to provide End of Life Services for the late Mr. Marion Hicks.
