A native of Charleston, SC and the son of the late Ruthie Washington, Marcellus retired from the U.S. Army after over 22 years of service. He also retired as a Mail Processor from the U.S Post Office (Milgen Road branch) in Columbus.
He is survived by a loving wife of 42 years, Mrs. Chang Kim Washington; one son, Marcellus E. Washington II; four adoring grandchildren, Marcellus III, Madison, Miles and Marley Washington; nine siblings, Vinetta Washington-Robinson, Paul Washington, Princetta Washington-Rodgers, Andrea Bennett Wright, Elton Washington, Odessa Washington-White, Nova Washington, Terrence Washington and Onnabelle Washington-Frazier; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
1SG Washington will be laid to rest with full military honors at the National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 following an Eleven O'clock AM Homegoing Celebration in the Chapel of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc. Service will be live-streamed (see clickable link below)
Visitation is 12:00 til 5:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
