We respectfully announce the passing of Mrs. Verleda Mitchell of Grantville, Georgia on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 2, 2023 at St. Paul CME Church in the Lone Oak Community. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Jim Allen, Pastor and Rev. Joe Geter, Eulogist.

Public viewing will be held on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, everyone in attendance at the viewing and the funeral must wear a mask.

Mrs. Verleda McCall Mitchell was born June 2nd, 1950, to the late Abram and Verna Harris McCall. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She departed this life surrounded by loved ones at her home on December 24th, 2022.

Mrs. Verleda McCall Mitchell graduated from Greenville Consolidated High School in 1968. Mrs. Verleda McCall Mitchell was a faithful member of St. Paul C.M.E Church for many years. Mrs. Verleda McCall Mitchell worked side by side with her husband Ernest , for over fifty years running Ernest Mitchell Contractors.

She was married to her loving husband Ernest Mitchell for 54 years.

Mrs. Verleda was preceded in death by her father and mother Abram and Verna McCall, and by five brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Verleda leaves to cherish and honor her memory, husband Ernest Mitchell, her three daughters, Bonita Tinsley , Erica (Tony) Hoyle, Veronica (John)Allen, and her two sons , Ernest A Mitchell and Carlos (Sheron) Zachery; seventeen grandchildren Sanderius Stargill, Calandria Tinsley, Markevious Berkeley(Jessica), Lavaris Berkeley, Demarcus Tinsley, Deandrez Berkeley, Zy’Kerion and Zy’Keria Tucker, Rodney Colton Jr, Kimora Clark, Natyla Mitchell, Devante Allen, Eiress Mitchell, Evan Mitchell, Brittne Zachery and Brandon Zachery. Two great grandchildren, Kaidience Berkeley and Selina Berkeley, and Christopher Tucker. Also to cherish her memory are her eight sister in laws Mrs.Mollie McCall, Mrs.Mary( Stanley) Herring, Mrs.Brenda(Jerry) Reid, Mrs. Lucy (Archie) Flowers, Mrs. Rita Mitchell, Ms.Dorothea Mitchell, Ms.Marilyn Mitchell and Mrs. Juanita T Mitchell and three brother in laws Mr. Michael ( Sabrina) Mitchell, Mr. Robert (Meriam) Mitchell, and Mr. Ross Mitchell and also to cherish her memory is her god daughter Karen Jabaley and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
