Carter Funeral Home announces the peaceful transition of Mr. William J. Anderson, Jr, (72) of Union Springs, AL.

Affectionately known and loved as “Big Boy”, Mr. Anderson transitioned into eternity Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at his residence.

The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Wednesday December 21, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.

The Farewell Life Celebration at Graveside will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 12:00 pm from the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Cemetery. The eulogy will be delivered by Pastor Hawthorne Reed of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church.

In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.

A CELEBRATED LIFE

The life of William James Anderson, Jr. came into existence on October 27, 1950. He was the first-born son to William James Anderson, Sr., and Annie Mae Anderson.

His earthly journey was completed on December 13, 2022, at the comfort of his home in Union Springs, Alabama. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby Burgan and Bettye Price and by his brothers, Kenneth Scott and Duane Anderson.

William confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend G. W. Smiley.

WILLIAM REMEMBERED

William graduated from Bullock County Technical High School and attended Kentucky State College where he majored in biology. While in school, William spent his summers working for Consumer Power and Flint School District in Flint, Michigan. Upon leaving Kentucky State, William returned home to be near his mother and began working with Wayne Farms until his retirement. Throughout his life and especially during his retirement, William enjoyed spending time with family and friends and making those around him smile and laugh. He would help those he loved in any way that he could, he truly believed in service to humanity.

Left to mourn his passing are devoted daughters: Brittany Anderson, Atlanta, Georgia; and Shana Youngblood, Roseville, Michigan; goddaughter: Marquita Kindrex, Phenix City, Alabama; god-grandchildren: Jakevia Williams and Ayani Williams of Phenix City, Alabama; six sisters: Anne (Melvin) Gregory, Flint, Michigan; Billie Hazzard, Union Springs, Alabama; Annie (Frank) Lee, Detroit, Michigan; Bonnie Newby, Flint, Michigan; Florida (Henry) Major, Rochester, New York, and Marilyn (George) King, Akron, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
