Melvin Evans

We respectfully announce the passing of Mr. Melvin Evans, age 86, of Grantville, Ga. on December 8, 2022 at his residence.

The funeral service will be Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Greater Jehovah Baptist Church 2 Roger Arnold Road Grantville, Georgia 30220 Pastor Chris McCambry will be the Eulogist and interment will follow in the Grantville City Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held on Friday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 concerns, everyone in attendance at the viewing and the Funeral Home are encouraged to wear a mask.

Melvin, the fourth son ( of the Magnificent seven sons) of the late William Glenn Evans and Mary Bell Evans. Melvin was born in Meriwether County Georgia, and he attended the Meriwether County Schools. Early in life, he joined Fellowship Baptist Church as a young child and faithfully attended with his parents. During his early adult life, he was blessed with his first daughter, Patricia Cameron Evans. On April 8, 1961, Melvin met and married the love of his life, Mrs. Mable Philpot and to this union two sons were born. Eric Evans and Lorenzo Evans.

For many years, Melvin owned and operated MM Demolition in Atlanta, Georgia until it’s closure. Those who were blessed to know Melvin, found him to be loving, kind and so generous. He would deny himself for others. His trust and belief was in God. He was saved, and his heart was pure After a few months of health issues, hospital visits, and nursing home stay, God answered our prayers and called him home. He is now healed and in the presence of Almighty God (2 Corinthian 5:8)

His love for his family was profound. Precious Memories of Melvin will always be shared by his wife Mable Evans, Daughters, Patricia Cameron Evans, Sabrina Evans (James) Ross, Heaven Evans, Yekema Harris, Sons, Lorenzo Evans, Eric (Maxine) Evans Xavier(Zay) Evans Sister Ruby (JD) Hines, (42 Grandchildren, (14Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, A special friend Lovenia Anthony and a host of friends.

Melvin was different, he was special, Unique in a thousand ways, He was giving he was loving And we will miss him, miss him, miss him all our days.
