Willie Joe Harris, was born August 5, 1949 in Chambers County, AL to Mae Emma Harris. He departed this life on December 6, 2022 at his residence in the Shawmut Community.

Willie accepted Christ and united with the O. H. Ministries, Inc. under the leadership of Bishop Bertha Hodge. “Cool Dude” ,as he was known by many was a former employee of the Lanett Mill and the Lanett Holiday Inn where he served as a custodian for many years. He was currently doing lawn maintenance work in the Shawmut Community. He would care for one’s yard with love and compassion. His clients truly appreciated their well manicured yards. Cool Dude will be remembered for his neighborhood service and his unique personality.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mae Emma Harris; brothers, Homer Lee Harris and Sonny Sylvester Brown; sister, Roxie Mae Harris.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two brothers, Climmie Lee Harris, Pine Mountain, GA and Jerome Harris, North Carolina; a loving niece, Chiffon McClure, Cusseta, AL; cousins, Marlene(Jarrell)Winston, LaGrange, GA, Dorothy Estella Moss, Pine Mountain, GA; sister-in-law, Mamie Harris, New York, NY; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Special friends, George Benton and Thaddeus Jenkins both of Lanett, AL and a Coach Clifford Story, West Point, GA.

A Memorial for Mr. Harris will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. ET in the sanctuary of the St. James Baptist Church, with Rev. John Flournoy, Pastor and Bishop Donald Lancaster, Eulogist.
