“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love is appearing. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8.”

Thelma Rosser Ford began was born on July 19, 1942 in Lone Oak, Georgia to the late Johnny and Estella Rosser. Thelma attended the Meriwether County School System. At an early age, she joined the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully in the Senior Choir and Mother’s Board and was very active and supportive to her church until her health began to decline. She spent many years working in the textile industry: Uniroyal, Shaw and Inflation where she retired after many years of dedicated service. After retirement, she continued helping and assisting others in the capacity of being a sitter for the elderly. Thelma had a passion for t-shirts. It did not matter the auxiliary, the occasion or the cost; it was always understood that she would get a t-shirt and would wear it well.

Thelma was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Elmon Ford on October 10, 1959. They were married for 56 years at his time of passing. They became the proud parents of six beautiful children.

Thelma answered the master’s call and departed this life on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmon; her siblings, Gracie, Pearl, Annella, and Johnnie Mae; mother-in-law; Mattie; son-in-law; Thomas (Bubba); and great grandchild, Nevaeh.

Thelma leaves to cherish her memories her loving children, Sandra, Carol (Richard), Michael, Kenneth (Sharon), Jeffery (Tisa), and Jennifer; siblings, Ola Mae and Robert Lewis (Baby Brother); grandchildren, Chevosky, Carlos, Demetrius, Deontae, Danielle, Migel, Kamvyon, LaParish, Jeffery, Corey, Mario, Johnika, Kiarra, Eljah, Courtney and Jasmine; 34 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Special thanks to her niece, Rachel McGruder, for always being there and assisting as a caregiver.
