He was educated in the Chattanooga Public Schools and was a 1982 graduate of Howard High School. He began his Christian life at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life Lance moved to Lanett, AL where he found his new church home, New Zion Baptist Church, Lanett, AL.
Lance was employed by Hyundai Transys for almost eight years. He enjoyed fishing and being with his family, friends, and beloved dogs in his leisure time. He was a very devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loved listening to R&B music.
Among those who preceded him in death include his son, Shaphan Rodriguer Word; mother, Mary Ann Williams; grandmother, Mattie Ferrell; brother, Lee Morris Jackson; sister, Gloria Jackson.
Cherishing his memories includes his Father, Leon (Davilene) Jackson, nine brothers, Jimmy Ferrell of Atlanta, Terry (Tabitha) Williams of Cusseta, AL, Leon Williams of Chattanooga, TN, Toney Williams of Lanett, AL, Michael (Tammy) Williams of Chattanooga, TN, Calvin (Betty) Jackson, Nathaniel (Cathy) Jackson, Harris (Sandra) Jackson, and Tyron (Annette) Jackson all of Chattanooga, TN; eight sisters, Debra (Robert) Brooks of West Point, GA, Mae Rosie Pardlow, Varnette Clay, Ann Butts, Nan Lewis, Janice Terry, Grace Morrer, and Inice Jackson all of Chattanooga, TN; a loving niece, Yolanda Reed, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Williams will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. ET in the sanctuary of the New Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Willie C. Atkinson, Pastor, Rev. Jackie Banks, Eulogist and Rev. Terry Williams, assisting. Interment will follow in the Pinehill Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 2:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
