Obituary For Ida Faye Wooley Bell

The family of Ida Faye Bell is saddened to announce her passing on October 12, 2022 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown. Ida passed away peacefully at the age of 89 with her devoted family by her side.

Ida was born and raised in Valley, Alabama. She graduated from Valley High School and then attended Georgia Baptist College where she obtained a nursing degree. She is most well-known for her long and storied career as a nurse, working for many years in various nursing roles at Lanier Hospital and later in the local textile mills as an occupational health nurse. It is hard to find someone local who doesn’t have a story about a time that “Mrs. Ida” nursed them back to health in some way.

Ida was a steadfast and faithful member of Langdale United Methodist Church. She was a proud member of the Fellodians Sunday School class. She truly had a servant’s heart and loved serving with the Interfaith Food Closet, the Bread Basket Club and weekly soup kitchen ministries. Ida enjoyed donating to various missions and charities, both locally and around the world. Only Heaven knows the number of lives touched by her giving. She also loved to travel with her close friends and later, both of her grandchildren.

Ida is survived by her daughter, Jenny (Terry) Reaves of Valley; her grandchildren, Dr. Jessica (Jonathan) Ledford of LaGrange, Georgia and Dr. Charles “Chet” (Katelyn) Reaves of Newnan, Georgia; and her two great-grandchildren, Beau and Blaire Ledford. If you know Ida well, you also know that she cherished her special relationship with her “grandpup”, Hattie.

Ida was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles “Bogie” Bell, Jr. and her twin brother, Joe Wooley.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Langdale United Methodist Church in Valley. Reverend Dr. Tim Alexander, Reverend Tori Hastings and Dr. Jason Etherton will officiate.

A reception and visitation time for all who loved Ida will take place at the church immediately following the service.

Services have been entrusted to Bluffton Funeral Services, Lanett, Alabama.
