Bernice Harris

Mrs. Bernice Harris passed away quietly Wednesday at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center at the age of 68. A native of Columbus and the daughter of the late Johnny Lee and Mattie Pearl Sanks Kendrick, she attended Spencer High School and retired from Toys 'R' Us as an Associate.

She was a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church and its Ushers Ministry.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son, Batrice Harris and Benny L. Harris III and a brother, Lorenzo Kindrick.

Survivors include a loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Benny L. Harris II; six grandchildren, Tyeshia, Amber, Aeriel and Maya Harris, Derrika Short and Joshua Harris; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Johnny Kindrick (Berdie) and Brady Kindrick; three sisters, Mable Kindrick, Cynthia Edwards (Darnell) and Tammy Kindrick; two uncles, Richard Sanks and M.C. Reese; one aunt, Marguerite Norris; sisters-in-law, Jackie Kindrick, Eva Burns(Jimmy), Nadine Harris and Francine Ferguson(Lonnie), a devoted godmother, Annie Askew and a goddaughter, Kennedi Lowman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Harris will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park on Saturday, September 3, 2022 following a Ten O'clock AM Homegoing Celebration in the Chapel of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc. officiated by Pastor Benjamin F. McGruder.

Visitation is from 1:00 to 5:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Home.
