Mr. Thornton, known and loved by friends as “Shug”, transitioned into eternity, August 02, 2022, in Montgomery, AL.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Saturday, August 06, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Celebration will be held Sunday, August 07, 2022, at 2:00 pm from the Walton Chapel Methodist Church.

Born July 6, 1955, Lysander entered life to the late Raymond Youngblood, Sr. and Willie Grace Thornton. Lysander accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Walton Chapel Methodist Church in the Aberfoil community where he faithfully attended until he relocated to Fayetteville, NC. Lysander graduated from Seventy-First High School in Fayetteville, NC. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1976. Upon being honorably discharged, he returned to Montgomery and pursued a career in the restaurant industry where he worked for many years. On August 2, 2022, Lysander transitioned and entered eternity to forever be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Thornton, his parents, Raymond Youngblood, Sr. and Willie Grace Thornton-Tolbert; four brothers, Willie E (Georgie) Thornton; Ellis Youngblood, Oliver Youngblood and Vernon Youngblood; two sisters, Dianne (Robert) Franklin, Vernice Y. Tolbert; and sister-in-law, Lora Thornton. He leaves six brothers and five sisters to cherish her memories: Willie J. (Helen) Goodwin of Columbus, GA; Omer (Jessie) Youngblood of Union Springs, AL; Curtis Thornton of Tuskegee, AL; Webster (Lois) Youngblood; Raymond Youngblood, Jr; Ruby (Kennon) Tuck of Montgomery, AL; Abbie Thornton of Charlotte, NC; Alice (Henry) Williams of Montgomery, AL; Zenard (Tony) Youngblood-Fisher of Raeford, NC; and Loris Thornton of Montgomery, AL; Michael Youngblood of Union Springs, AL and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
