Catherine Roberts was the first born to the late Lamon Robert, Sr. and Lula Mae Roberts on November 19, 1933, in Lanett, Alabama. She accepted Christ at an early age at the North 13th Avenue Church of Christ. Not long after having two children (Allen Jerome Roberts and Americus Diane Roberts), Catherine was united in holy matrimony to Willie Lewis Truitt. To this union, no children was born.
Catherine and Lewis moved to Wichita, Kansas where they both attended the Church of Christ. She enjoyed singing with the Church of Christ chorus group that toured around the United States and even in Paris. After years of living in Kansas, she and Lewis moved back to Lanett where she worked at the Lanett High School Cafeteria. Longing to be in Kansas, Catherine moved back to Wichita alone. There she started her own successful janitorial business. Later she landed a job with Hormel Meat Packing Company cutting bacon where she retired in 2000s.
After showing signs of Dementia in 2013, Catherine moved back to Lanett, Alabama at the request of her mother. Her sisters and brothers took turns keeping Catherine and their mother out of the nursing home. Even though the dementia was taking a toll in her mind, she still enjoyed church service and especially the singing at Bellfort Church of Christ in Houston, Texas. Even after being diagnosed with Alzheimer by her doctor in Houston, Texas in 2016, Catherine kept a smile on her face and if you helped her in any way she would look you in your eyes and say “thank you” with a smile that touched your heart. God called his servant, Catherine, home on July 16, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie L. Truitt; father, Lamon Roberts, Sr. and her brother, Henry Lee Roberts.
She leaves to cherish her fond, loving, warm and wonderful memories her mother, Lula Mae Roberts and her son, Allen Jerome (Deborah) Roberts of Lanett, Ala.; her daughter, Americus Diane Brannon and her granddaughter, LaKetta Robinson of Wichita, Kansas; grandsons: Cory (Tanya) Robinson of Tennessee; and Michael Spears of Opelika,, Ala.; her great-grandchildren: Miketayveious Spears, Kaleb Spears, Na-Sha Kierra Robinson of Webster, MA, Malcom Solomon, Lawton OK, Paton Robinson, and Lana Robinson; and her; great, great-grandchildren: Audree Solomon and Leilanil Solomon; her brothers: Lamon Roberts, Jr., George Roberts, T.J.
