Celebrating the life of Ocie Lee Perry who transitioned peacefully on June 11, 2022 in Tallassee, AL.

Ocie “Bull” Lee Perry was born April 15, 1951 in Union Springs, AL to the late Olden and Minner Perry. He became a member of Hardway A.M.E. Church at an early age, proclaiming Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He graduated from Merritt High School in 1970. Bull exhibited his special gift of machinery at a young age tinkering with equipment near his childhood home, fostering a long lasting career and hobby. He is the former owner of The Saw Shop on Peachburg Road. He also spent 20 years as a truck driver for various companies.

Bull, a name given to him as a baby, met his childhood sweetheart, Carol (Carolyn) Williams when they were teenagers. They later joined in matrimony on June 18, 1976 spending 46 years together building memories and sharing a lifelong devotion to each other. Their love of family, motorcycles and fishing created an eternal bond. “Uncle Bull” and “Aunt Carolyn” are more than just aunt and uncle to many nieces and nephews, but they are considered staples in the community. A place to come and laugh, fellowship or spend time with family and friends eating a plate of mouth watering, flavorful ribs or crispy, fresh caught fish. Hence, his well deserving title “King of the Grill.” The patience and time he spent on the grill and at “The Pond”, his favorite fishing spot, spoke volumes when he would eagerly share his passion with others. His resilient outlook on life did not mask his humor and loyalty to those who were close to his heart.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brothers: Earnest and Benjamin Perry; sister, Mae Rena Cowan; brothers-in-law: Myron and Lee Edwards Williams and Anthony Jones. Bull is survived by his wife Carolyn Perry, Union Springs, AL; brother, James (Suzy) Perry, Union Springs, AL; sisters: Ora (Roger) Clay, Oakland, CA, Mary “Lou” Parker, Alabaster, AL and Peggy (Eunice) Ford, Jacksonville, FL; one aunt, Winnie Fred “Bobbie” Lampley, Union Springs, AL; sisters-in-law: Barbara Ann (Arthur) Ellison, Linda (Larry) Ellison, all of Atlanta, GA, Diane (Horace) Ellis and Lynn Jones, all of Union Springs, AL; brothers-in-law: Charles and David D. Williams, Union Springs, AL. Two lifelong friends, Pastor Tommy Cooper and Homer Walker. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

The Staff of Carter Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with The Final Life Celebration Arrangements for the late Mr. Ocie Lee Perry.
