Ms. Barbara Jean McQueen, age 60, of West Point, GA, transitioned on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice, LaGrange, GA.

Graveside Services will on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. ET in the Marseilles Cemetery with Bishop Winston Fanning, Officiating , Overseer G. L. Fanning, Eulogist, Rev. Alton Barber, Rev. Willie Wimberly, Rev. Garrett Williamson, assisting.

Public Viewing will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. ET until 6:00 p.m.ET at the Mortuary.

Ms. Barbara Jean McQueen, affectionately known as “Mean Jean”, was born on August 15, 1961, in West Point, County, GA to the late James McQueen Sr. and Betty Frances Aubsy McQueen. Barbara was a graduate of West Point High School in 1979, where she excelled in her academic studies. She went on to establish herself as the family early childhood educator and childcare provider for over 30 years. Barbara was a voracious reader and an avid card player. “Mean Jean” was always considered a joy to be around and was known for her wise jokes and boundless energy. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with family and her lifelong companion James. Barbara gained her eternal rest on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Wellstar Hospice in LaGrange, GA. She was preceded in death by her father, James McQueen, Sr. and her lifelong companion James Hall, while leaving to cherish her memory two daughters, Shaveka McQueen and Clarissa Slaughter(Bruce) all of West Point, GA; one son, Christopher McQueen(Christina) of Covington, GA; a loving mother, Betty Frances McQueen; six grandchildren, Jertasia Jackson, Jeremiah Jackson Jr, and Anderious McQueen all of West Point GA, Kendre Bell, Christian McQueen, and Kennedy McQueen all of Covington GA; Four brothers, James McQueen Jr(Gloria) of West Point, GA, Frank McQueen of Hinesville, GA, Willie James McQueen of West Point, GA and Steven McQueen(Regina) of Lithia Springs, GA; seven sisters, Linda Gunsby(Charles) of West Point, GA, Frances Sands of Lanett, AL, Mary Williams(Walter) of Snellville, GA, Gail Hunter, Debra Rhodes both of Lagrange, GA, Carla Hardaway(Charles) of Tyler TX, and Cheatrice McQueen of West Point, GA; an array of nieces and nephews; extended family, Mary T. Hall and family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
