Deacon Willie Dean Walker was born on February 6, 1951 to the late Robert and Zearlean Walker in Midway, Alabama. At an early age, he confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior and united in Christian fellowship with Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Midway, AL. He served faithfully as secretary of the church, member of the deacon board, and president of the adult choir. He was also involved in multiple community organizations which include The American Legion Post 2016 where he served as the first adjutant and the Mount Andrew Water Authority where he served as vice president.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1971 and served as a military policeman before being honorably discharged. After graduating from Merritt School, he went on to graduate from Chauncey Sparks Trade School where he studied brick-masonry. In addition to working as a brick-mason, he was also employed by the Bullock County Board of Education as a custodian for over two decades before retiring. Many of the young people he encountered considered him as a mentor and a father-figure. At age 22, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Sherry Johnson Walker on May 12, 1973. To this union three children were born. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert L. Walker Jr. and James E. Walker.

Deacon Willie Dean Walker went home to be with Christ on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

He leaves many loved ones to cherish his precious memories: his devoted wife of 48 years Sherry A. Walker; his three children, Stacy Walker of Atlanta, GA, Traci Walker of Wetumpka, AL, and Pacey Walker of Atlanta, GA; one grandchild, Ja’Tariel Walker of Union Springs, AL; two great-grandchildren, Harmonie Stewart and Ty’Siaah Stewart; three siblings, Betty Guice (William) of Midway, AL, Jethro Walker of Bonifay, FL, and Coleen Walker of Montgomery, AL; four sisters-in-law, Dessa Beachem, Dorothy Miles (Eddie), Ruby Babers and Barbara Streeter; eight brothers-in-law, Joseph Rumph (Fannie), Harold Neal (Marcia), Billy Johnson (Elizabeth), Edgar Johnson, Howard Robbins Jr. (Brenda), Curtis Robins (Brienne), Ameer Nuriddin, and Jumar Hooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.
