Sergeant Major Retired William Donald McGinty, Sr. tran- sitioned home Friday at his residence. He was 81 years of age.
The son of Wallace, Sr. and Lelia Lyons McGinty, SGM McGinty was born in Forsyth, GA. and was a decorated United States Vietnam Veteran of 26 years. He was a member of the Sergent Majors and Purple Hearts Association, and the Triple Nickles Organization. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a great grandchild, Ky’Land Booker, and four siblings, James, Wallace, Jr., Larry and Charles McGinty.
Surviving his departure with cherished memories, include: his wife, Mrs. Su- sie Williams McGinty; three children, William D. McGinty, Jr., Terri S. Council (Keith) and Kristy D. McGinty; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; three brothers, Erroyl McGinty (Rose), Ronnie McGinty, Gregory McGinty (Jenifer); beloved in-laws, Maggie Turnipseed, Calvin Williams and Major Williams, Jr. (Deloris); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for SMG McGinty will be Friday, January 28, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with interment at Green Acres Cemetery. Pastor James G. Davis will officiate.
Visitation is Thursday, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at the funeral home. The Staff of Progressive Funeral Home is honored to be selected to provide end of life services.
