Dorothy J. McClendon

Mrs. Dorothy Jackson McClendon of Columbus passed away Friday at St. Francis Hospital at the age of 68.

A daughter of Mrs. Annie Ruth Rogers and the late James Rogers, Jr., Mrs. McClendon was born in Mobile, AL, and was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. She was a United States Army Veteran, and was also retired following 30 years of service as a medical records analyst with Civil Services at Ft. Benning, GA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Sergeant First Class (Retired) Eugene McClendon, and a brother, Eddie E. Rogers.

Survivors other than her mother, include: her sisters, Ruby Edwards (Darryl), Jeannie Spencer (Frank), Mary Flott and Shirley Robinson (James); a brother, James E. Rogers (Bonita); a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.

The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. McClendon will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Progressive Chapel with Rev. Albert Suggs officiating.

The interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

Visitation will begin Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
