Obituary For Mr. Robert L. “Chuck” Winston

Mr. Robert L. “Chuck” Winston, a resident of Atlanta, GA and former resident of Lanett, AL, died Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 12:00 Noon on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lanett, AL with Rev. Jackie Winters as Officiant/Eulogist.

Public Viewing is scheduled for Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.

Robert Lee “Chuck” Winston was born September 19, 1940 in Chambers County, Alabama to the late Charlie and Mary Critney Winston.

At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Zion Rest Baptist Church of Langdale (now Valley), Alabama. During his tenure, he was a faithful member and served as a Deacon for many years. Mr. Winston also served God by spreading the gospel through music. For 50 years, he was a member of the Dixie Harmoneers of Lanett, Alabama.

In 1959, Chuck, as he was affectionately called, married the former Dorothy Ann Shealey and this union was blessed with three boys – Jerome, Neal and Tracy. He worked for 30 years at Cains Auto Sales and also part-time for West Point Pepperell. Later, he became the Owner of Winston Detail Shop where he worked until retirement.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Dorothy and several siblings. Robert Lee Winston departed this life on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

His survivors include: three sons, Robert Jerome (Terry) Winston, Atlanta, GA, Spencer O’Neal (Vera) Winston, West Point, GA and Tracy (Latania) Winston, Lanett, AL; seven grandchildren, Rokie Winston, Joskie Winston, Marquita Winston Smiley, Mario Brooks, Travaria Winston Hightower, Amber Winston and Tracy “TJ” Winston; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Will Winston, Lanett, AL and Charles (Deborah) Winston, Opelika, AL; sisters-in-law, Wanda McCants and Ethel Winston both of Lanett, AL; brothers-in-law, Donald Hopkins, Lanett, AL and Ricky Hopkins, Atlanta, GA; and, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
