Obituary For Lester L. McCollough

Mr. Lester L McCollough, 86, of Lanett Alabama passed away at Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama on Sunday, April 29, 2018.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 10:00 AM EDT at Lanett First Christian Church in Lanett, Alabama followed by a Memorial service at 11:00 AM EDT at First Christian Church. Reverend David Bradshaw will be officiating.

Lester was born on November 6, 1931 in Alexander City Alabama to Valter and Ola Lee McCollough.

He was a graduate of Lanett High School where he received numerous football recognitions and was an “Eagle Scout”. He also received a scholarship to play football at the University of Alabama. He had a twenty-six year career as a postman at the Lanett AL Post office and was recognized as the “whistling postman”. Lester was blessed with a beautiful singing voice where he sang in the choir, community theater productions and many local events.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents Valter and Ola McCollough, sister Danueline Brown, and brother Goudy McCollough.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years Elaine McCollough, sons Larry(Connie) McCollough of West Point GA, Gary(Tina) McCollough of Lake Harding AL. and David McCollough of Knoxville, Tennessee. Lester was blessed with twenty-two grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
