Obituary For Bennie "Hop" Hopson Jr.

We respectfully announce the passing of Mr. Bennie Hopson Jr. "Hop", age 76, of Hogansville, Georgia on Sunday April 15, 2018 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 ,12:00 noon at St. Mary United Methodist Church, 100 Pine Street in Hogansville, Ga. Rev. Elaine Gilbert, pastor, will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Our Father in heaven called Mr. Bennie Hopson, Jr. home on Sunday, April 15, 2018. It was on September 27, 1941 that he was born unto the late Mary Francis Hopson Dawson and Bennie Patterson. He was a member of Saint Mary United Church of Hogansville, Georgia. He is a 1963 graduate of West End High School. For many years, he worked as a construction worker. Until his death, he worked for the Hogansville Housing Authority.

Mr. Bennie Hopson, Jr. was affectionately known to some as Big Hop and Ben Jr. but to his immediate family he was simply “Bruh”.

Preceding him in death, his mother Mary Francis Hopson Dawson, father Bennie Patterson. His uncles: John Anderson Hopson, Grady Hopson, Jessie Hopson, Isaiah Hopson, Henry Hopson and Alton Hopson.

As he has departed this life, he leaves his sister Carol Sue Dawson Smith (Eddie), his two nieces: Monica Smith Terrell (Render) and, Dr. Beverly Smith. Three great nieces: Monique Terrell, Monet Terrell and Moneria Terrell, a huge host of cousins and friends. He had three cousins he kept close contact with Martha Lindsey, Alton Hopson, Jr. and David L. Hopson. He had three very close friends: Van Thrash, Curtis Hines, and James Griffin. He loved football, basketball and baseball. His favorite team was Los Angeles Dodgers.
