Obituary For Mrs. Whitney Jones Atkinson

Atkinson, Mrs. Whitney Jones, a resident of Lanett, AL, died Friday, March 30, 2018 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, AL.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from Zion Rest Baptist Church Heard Center, Valley, AL, Rev. Frederick Stanley, Pastor, Pastor Eddie Reece, Eulogist and Pastor Corey Huguley, Officiant.

Interment will follow in New Zion Cemetery, Lanett, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.

Public Viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.

Whitney Necole Jones Atkinson was born June 18, 1989 in Valley, Alabama to Capreena Jones and Willie Howell. At an early age, Whitney accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined New Zion Baptist Church in Lanett, AL. She also attended worship services at New Life Ministries in Valley, AL.

Whitney, affectionately called “Whit Chick” , attended Valley High School graduating in the Class of 2007. She later attended Jacksonville State University and Auburn University Montgomery. Whitney was known and loved by many. Her glowing personality captivated a lot of hearts. Her hobbies included reading, athletics, arts and crafts, spending time with family and friends, and most importantly spending time with her children.

She was preceded in death by; her paternal grandmother, Henrietta Howell, whom she loved dearly, her maternal grandfather, John Brown; her aunts, Shirley Ann Robinson and Juanita Heath. On Friday, March 30, 2018, at the age of 28, she made her transition into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Jatarious K. Atkinson, Valley, AL; three loving children, Kaydon Atkinson, Jaylon Atkinson and Karsyn Atkinson all of Valley, AL; her mother, Capreena Jones (Chris), West Point, GA; her father, Willie (Jowana) Howell, Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Manderia Jones and Justice Booker both of Lanett, AL; five sisters, Latisha Jones and Ambria Booker both of Lanett, AL, Briesha Davidson, West Point, GA, Jalayla Howell and Tremya Howell both of Atlanta, GA; maternal grandmother, Ella Mae Huguley, Valley, AL; paternal grandfather, Terry Lee Holloway Lanett, AL; mother-in-law, Jennifer (Ted) Hutchinson and father-in-law, Calvin (Lynn) Atkinson all of Valley, AL; great aunts, Helen Brown, Alice Hughley and Julia Davis; great uncles, Roy Brown and Christopher Bryant; aunts and uncles, Linda (Gary) Shepard, Lois Thomas, Ella Jones, Valerie and Ray Howell, Rachel Brown Hargett, Loretta (Joshua) Hall, Benita Wilson, Debra Jones, Lucious Jones, John (Cassandra) Brown, Leonard (Linda) Jones and Tymichael (Jacobi) Howell; four nieces, Cortiryana Jones, Rylee Pace, Mikeiya McCants and Serenity Buckner; two nephews, T’Sean Tucker and Zion Booker; a devoted cousin, LaJasmine Woody; two special friends who were like sisters, Candace Flournoy and Britany Lark; and, a host of other relatives and friends.
