Born in Lykesland, SC, Mr. Williams was the son of the late Elizabeth Williams. He retired from the U.S. Army after over 20 years of service. He also retired from Civil Services at Ft. Benning, GA. A very devout member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, he was a member of the Ushers, Brotherhood and Culinary Ministries. He was a life member of DAV Chapter 56, American Legion Post 267 and a Mason. Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gracie Brown Williams and all of his siblings.
Survivors include four daughters, Hannah Williams Golding, Eudora Williams, Karen Williams Bonner and Freda Williams all of Columbus; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren; his godchildren, Jasmine Williams, Andrew, Roderick, Cornelius Shepherd and Rickey Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
SSG Retired Williams will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park during a Two O’clock PM Homegoing Celebration on Sunday, August 29, 2021 officiated by Pastor David Stallion of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army Honor Guards. The service will be live-streamed (see clickable link below)
Visitation is Saturday 12:00 til 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
