Obituary For Leon Monroe Sr.

Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr Leon Monroe, Sr., 73 of Shorter.Alabama.

Born January 31, 1945, Mr. Monroe transitioned into eternity March 9, 2018 at his residence in Shorter, Alabama.

Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 12 noon from the sanctuary of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Union Springs.,Rev. Gary Lewis pastor.

Words of comfort will be rendered by the Rev. Evins Faulk, Jr.,pastor of the Sweet Gum AME Zion Church Shorter Alabama.

Public visitation will be held Friday March 16, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.

Mr. Leon Monroe Sr. was born January 31, 1945, to the late Stanley Monroe, Sr., and Annie Foy Monroe of Hardaway, Alabama. He was a lifelong resident of Shorter, Alabama departed his life on March 9, 2018.

Leon was a welder by trade and worked as a devoted foreman at Conveyor Machinery in Montgomery, Alabama for over 20 years. He was most known for his fabrication of bar-b-que grills, farming, fishing and hunting. His witty personality was always enjoyed at family gathering.

Leon was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Monroe, Sr.; his mother, Annie Foy Monroe; son, the Leon Monroe, Jr.; his brothers Stanley and James Monroe; his sister. Bertha Simmons, and his grandson, Niquan Monroe.

He leaves cherished memories to his daughter Donna McReynolds, Montgomery, Alabama; two sisters, Velma McCray, Winter Haven, Florida; Beatrice Monroe, Birmingham, Alabama; one sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Monroe, Haines City Florida; daughter-in-law, Bobby Ellis, Union Springs, Alabama; seven grandchildren Canessa McReynolds, Huntsville, Alabama; Carina Bradley-Monroe, Auburn, Alabama; Diamond Grant and Dquandrius Monroe, Phenix City, Alabama; Shelton Johnson, Shequan Monroe and Condarrious King, all of Union Springs Alabama; Great granddaughter, Bailee Lovejoy, Huntsville, Alabama; devoted life- long friends Brenda Monroe, Auburn, Alabama; Odessa Washington, Montgomery, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Leon will always be remembered in the lives of his love ones.
