Ms. Detra A. Harvey transitioned home peacefully Sunday at River Towne Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was 64 years of age.

The daughter of Mrs. Doris Edward Atkinson, Detra was born in Columbus and was a 1975 graduate of Carver High School. She obtained her BS degree from Troy State University. She was a member of Greater Peace Baptist Church where she served as an Usher, with the Kitchen's Ministry and was Vacation Bible School Coordinator. She retired following 31 years from the Muscogee County Schools, serving at Shaw High School and Aaron Cohn Youth Detention Center.

Other than her mother, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Sandra Profit and William Atkinson.

Survivors include: her daughter, Tiffany A. Harvey; three grandchildren, Alise Brown, Kayden Carraker and Kaamyrn Carraker; five siblings, Darold Atkinson, Nolan E. Barrett, Jr., Constance Barrett, Tommasina Hughley (Reginald) and Samantha Timmons (Michael); a special nephew and nieces that she raised, Chrystopher and Lamorris Pettie and Chernda Pendleton (Melvin); and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Homegoing Celebration for Ms. Harvey will be Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 12 noon at Greater Peace Baptist Church with interment at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pastor Corey Neal will officiate.
