Mary Johnson confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama under the leadership of Rev C.L. Sheridan.
"Liz," as she was affectionally known, received her education from Lanier High School graduating class of 1969, Lanett, Alabama. She attended York College, Queens, New York graduating with a BS degree in Gerontology. Liz retired after thirty-three years of employment from the State of New York. After her retirement, she relocated to Georgia to be closer to family and friends.
Elizabeth was a loving, caring woman. She was loved and admired by many that she encountered. The things that she enjoyed most besides her family were cooking, living life to the fullest, spending her life helping others, and entertainment.
She was predeceased in death by her parents.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Phillip Cesare Hazel of West Hempstead, NY; grandchildren, Adoree T. Hazel, West Hempstead, NY, Xavier Lorenzo Hazel, West Hempstead, NY; sisters, Patricia Hutchinson, Lanett, AL, Barbara Tyler, Valley, AL, Jacqueline Williams, Conyers, GA; brothers, Eddie (Gladys) Johnson, West Point, GA, Willie B. Johnson Jr., Valley, AL, Jimmie (Natalie) Johnson, Lanett, AL, Rev. Christopher Johnson, Bronx, NY, Rev. Bernard A. Williams, Lanett, AL, Calvin Williams, Queens, NY; five nieces; eight nephews; twelve great-nieces; six great-nephews; special cousin, Daisy Davis, Lithonia, GA; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Johnson will be held at 3:00 p.m. ET, Sunday, June 13, 2021in the Greenwood Baptist Church Cemetery with Jesse Walker, Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Officiating, Rev. Bernard Williams, Eulogist, Rev. Christopher Johnson and Rev. Willie Joe Phillips, Assisting.
Public Viewing will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Mortuary.
