Mr. Young, a trained electrician, transitioned into eternity, May 31, 2021 in Montgomery, AL.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Celebration at Graveside will be held Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11:00 am from the Perote Cemetery, Banks, AL. Pastor Darryl Andrews of the Mt. Hillard Missionary Baptist Church will deliver the eulogy.
Attendees for all visitations and services are requested to wear appropriate facial coverings and practice social distancing guidelines.
Nelson Young was born on March 24th, 1952. He was the fourth of seven children, born to parents Richard and Vera Young. Nelson was born, raised, and educated in Bullock County.
He graduated from Bullock County Technical High School. After high school, Nelson joined the Air Force Reserve. Upon leaving the military, he continued his education at Tuskegee Institute to become an Industrial Electrician. During this time, he received an award for Outstanding Young Apprentice. Nelson then completed additional training to become a Journeyman.
Nelson traveled all over the United States working in different cities such as the New York Subway, Times Square, Louisiana Nuclear Plants and the Super Conductor Super Collider in Texas. Nelson retired as an electrician and started his own business in auto and collision repair. He loved working on and restoring cars. Nelson was preceded in death by both parents, along with brothers Carl and Billie Young.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Nelson Todd Young, one daughter, Brittney Young, a granddaughter Ava Marie, four siblings, Carolyn Young, Johnnie Young, Jane Young-Ellison, Evelyn (Phillip) Thornton, and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
