Progressive Funeral Home respectfully announces the passing of Mattie Jackson age 97 of Columbus on Thursday, March 4, 2021.

Mrs. Mattie L. Jackson was born March 16, 1923 in Seale, Alabama to the late Mr. Eddie Jones and Mrs. Ophelia Fluellen Jones.

She was a faithful member of Uchee Hill Baptist Church in Phenix City, Alabama for over sixty years. She was very active in many dimensions at the church until her health declined. She served as the church clerk for forty years in addition to serving as a Sunday school teacher, on the Missionary Ministry, and a devoted member of the choir.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by five brothers, Homer Jones, J.C. Jones, Robert Jones, James Jones, Curtis Jones; two sisters, Ellen Davis, Ruth Johnson; a sister-in-law, Pauline Bowman.

Mrs. Mattie Jackson passed away peacefully at Columbus Hospice House Thursday, March 4, 2021

She leaves to forever cherish her memories; one brother, Peter Jackson of Columbus, Georgia; two sisters, Mary Butler of Columbus, Georgia, Dorothy Davis of Detroit, Michigan; her loving sister-in-laws, Bobbie Jackson of Phenix City, Alabama, Myrtis Span of Detroit, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand- nieces, grand- nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Twelve O’Clock in the afternoon at Uchee Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
