Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. Charlie Lee Birks, of Union Springs, AL.

Mr. Birks, 86, spent his lifetime as a seasonal laborer harvesting various crops and traveling.

He answered the Master’s call to receive his eternal reward on February, 19, 2021.

Celebration of Life Services and Interment will be held Friday, February 26, 2021 at 1:00 pm from the Mt. Sinai Baptist Cemetery. Charlie’s brother, Pastor Mack C. Birks, Jr. will deliver the eulogy.

Public visitation will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.

All visitations and services will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols.

On March 4, 1939, the Lord blessed the late Mr. and Mrs. M.C. and Ularia Spencer Birks of Union Springs, Alabama with a son they lovingly named Charlie Lee

Confessing a belief in Christ during his early years, he joined the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church family. Charlie received his formal education in the Bullock County School System.

His working life was spent as a seasonal laborer harvesting various crops.

Charlie loved life. He was concerned about his family and friends and enjoyed fishing in his spare time

Preceded in death by his parents, one son, two sisters and two brothers, He answered the Masters’ Call and entered into eternal rest on February 19, 2021.

Cherished earthly memories will remain with his sons, Hiawatha Thrasher, Union Springs, AL, and Richard Birks of New York City, NY; his daughter, Bessie Birks New York City, NY; sisters, Eva Gray, Annie Temple and Mary Brewer all of Miami, FL, Eularia Pearson of New York City, NY.and his niece whom was raised as a sister, Ruby J Birks, Miami, FL his brother Pastor Mack C. Birks, Union Springs, AL: and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
