Mr. McKinley Calhoun was born August 28, 1953 in Mitchell Station, AL to Mrs. Alice Mae Calhoun and the Late Spencer Calhoun. McKinley came into this world in his mother’s arms and he left this world in his mother’s arms. She wouldn’t have had it any other way. As Proverbs 22:6 states “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” McKinley accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and Baptist was his choice of religion.

McKinley attended the Thompson and Bullock County Public School system. Upon completion he learned many skills including but not limited to auto and diesel mechanics, construction and brick masonry. McKinley worked with Terry for Bricks until his health began to fail him at which time he did odd jobs relying on the self-taught skills that he had learned. When he was no longer able to use these skills he turned to his love for the outdoors and did gardening; willingly sharing his crops with family and other neighbors in the community. He also spent a lot of time fishing with his son and grandson, Steven Jr.

McKinley gave his life to Christ and was baptized on December 15, 2016. He departed this life on January 4, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, Spencer Calhoun, Sr., his brother and best friend Willie James Calhoun, aunts Mattie Harris and Bessie Jackson, Uncle Willie James Miles, nephews Timothy Charles Calhoun and Kenneth Lamont Calhoun and great nephew Gregory Calhoun.

McKinley leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted and caring mother, Alice Mae Calhoun, Fitzpatrick, AL, Son, Rev. Steven Tyrone Monday, Sr. (Keisha), Fitzpatrick, AL, Daughters, Marlena Townsend (Pine Level, AL), Evangelist Reshonda “Nicole” Monroe (Montgomery, AL), Qunnietta (Geary) Thompson (Clarksville, TN).
