Carter Funeral Home respectfully announces the transition of Mrs. Valerie R. Abro, 43, of Opelika,Alabama.

Valerie, born, January 4,1973, transitioned into eternity Saturday, December 3,2016.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, December 9,2016 from 2 pm until 7 pm at Carter Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, December 10,2016 at 1 pm from the sanctuary of the New Bethel Church of Hwy 51 North of Midway, Alabama. Rev. Jerome Anthony,pastor.

Words of comfort and tribute will,be rendered by Minister Otis Tyner,Associate Pastor of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Auburn, Alabama.

Interment will follow in New Bethel Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Abro will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.

Valerie Renaee Abro was born January 4, 1973 to Lona Pugh Anthony and the late Jessie Anthony. Valerie accepted Christ at an early age at New Bethel Church in Midway, Alabama. She attend Bullock County High School.

She worked as a CNA at Oak Park Nursing Home. Valerie attended New Beginning Ministry where her Brother, Johnny Anthony was her Pastor for the last several years. Valerie really grew spiritually. She became a mentor for younger co-workers at work.

Valerie was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Anthony and sister, Gwendolyn Smith.

Valarie leaves to cherish her memories her loving daughter, Jessica Edward; her loving mother: Lona Anthony; one sister, Tammie Davis; three brothers: Johnny Anthony, Jesse Ray (Arlene) Anthony, and Steven (Cindy) Key; five uncles: Alonza (Roberta) Pugh, Indavis (Doris) Pugh, Clarence (Ethel) Anthony, Jimmy Anthony, and Leroy Anthony; two aunts: Christine Upshaw and Bertha Pugh; two great aunts: Willie Mae Cobb and Annie Grant; nephews: Johnny Anthony, Jr., Darien Jermaine Anthony, Tyler L. Davis, Steven J. Key, Chancellor Key, and Joshua Ray Anthony, and a host of other relatives and friends.
