Throughout the 41 years of his life, he remained physically active, always optimistic even after learning that COPD was the cause of his recent illness. True to his nature he tirelessly searched for a way to live his life more comfortably, but unfortunately he lost that battle.

He initially attended schools in Flint and Saginaw Michigan and later, in Lilburn and Lawrenceville Georgia. He worked for Lazy Boy Delivery and also worked a few years with his “pops” Barry Kerns. But for the past 6 years he worked for Hitachi Motors in Monroe, where he met HR Director, Javier Montalvo who inspired him to start a personal Bible Study on www.jw.org

Everyone who knew Courtney said that he was quite a character. He was the fun-loving comedian who wanted everyone to be happy all the time. He was extremely generous and was always, yes, ALWAYS loving and kind. He would often give you the shirt off his back and a huge bear hug that would still hurt even days later

Even though Courtney was a big tough guy on the outside, he was an extremely emotional person on the inside, who would cry at the drop of a dime.

The fact that he was so emotional came to be one of the things people loved about him because if he was crying, it was most likely because someone had touched him deeply by something they said or did.

There are many things to be said about Courtney such as, the way he loved his “MA” and how he still looked forward to her daily baby-talk

The way he loved spending time with his older sister (Qiana), her two sons (Kalin & Kavon) & her side-kick (Corey) He loved spending time with his four daughters and his fiancée and her two sons

He enjoyed sports almost as much as he enjoyed working on his Crown Vic. He was passionate about his cooking skills which he learned from his Aunt Debbie and like her, he loved cooking for people.

He would FaceTime with his father as often as he could and has enjoyed going fishing with his “pops” for the past 25 years. He also loved being with Uncle Jerry and Aunt Karen to watch throwback comedy and reminiscing with his Aunt Nita and Aunt Dorothy about his younger days.

One of the things everyone will miss about Courtney was how much he loved talking on the phone. When he wasn’t working it was not uncommon to find him talking on the phone with as many people as he possibly could connect to, and all of them at the SAME TIME!!

He would start with his cousin Tess and Lannie and before long there would be an entire room full of his other cousins enjoying the light hearted conversation for hours on end! No doubt they will all miss his efforts to keep the family connected.

Courtney was starting to write a brand new chapter in his life, one that would give him the hope of seeing his deceased family members again in the earthly resurrection as promised in the Bible at Acts 24:15 and Ps 37:10,11,29

Grandparents (S.A Gilbert and Clara Ampy) (Roger and Rosie Forbes Sr.) Most recently he lost his Aunt Liz, and Aunt Susie First cousins Sir and Wendy Gilbert And so many others who departed prior to his death!
