Stanley Lee Dunn

Mr. Stanley Lee Dunn, better known as “Golden Boy” and “Heartthrob”, was born on July 13, 1955 in Valley, AL. He was the fifth child of the late Wille (Luke) and Catherine Darden Dunn. Stanley gained his eternal rest on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Capital Hill Health and Rehab Center, Montgomery, AL. Stanley confessed Christ at an early age and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend C.R. Sheridan. He attended Lanier High School and after integration, graduated from Lanett High School in 1973. In the 1970’s and 1980’s he wrote and recorded several songs with the band, Soul Unlimited, where he was the original drummer. Later in life Stanley traveled the Eastern United States working as an apprentice of carpentry until his retirement in 2018. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary McLemore; brother, Lamar Dunn, and two brothers-in-law, Gary Thornton and James Armstead.

Stanley leaves his legacy of love: one son, Quincy (Dr. Elizabeth) Murphy of Montgomery, AL; one daughter, Errika (David) Thomas of Atlanta, GA and one special daughter Shawanda Murphy of Lanett, AL; eight grandchildren, Romello Murphy, Niya Murphy, Jaelon Harris, Ra’Shawn Murphy, Cameron Murphy, Addyson Thomas, and Asher Murphy; two brothers, Carey Dunn and Billy (Brenda) Dunn of Lanett, AL; four sisters, Tollie Dunn Armstead of Lanett, AL, Angelyn Thornton of Columbus, GA, Cynthia Dunn- Marietta, GA and Jeraldine Polk, Waco, TX; a special brother-in-law, Charles McLemore, Sr.; two special nephews/brothers, Kelvin McLemore and Charles(Gaytresha) McLemore, Jr; a special devoted friend, Willie Ann Smedley, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Graveside Service for Mr. Dunn will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. EST in the Hillcrest Cemetery with the Bishop Donald Lancaster, Rev. Tony Avery, Rev. Billy Avery and Rev. W. G. Wimberly, Assisting.
