Obituary For Ms. Dorothy M. Harris

Harris, Ms. Dorothy M., a resident of Lanett, AL, died Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA.

Graveside Services are scheduled for Friday, November 13, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. (EST) at Pine Hill Cemetery, 22nd Avenue, SW, Lanett, AL with Rev. L. C. Thomas officiating. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.

Public Viewing is scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.

Ms. Dorothy Mae Harris was born January 7, 1944 to the parentage of Sam and Leona in Valley, Alabama. She attended school in Fairfax (now Valley), Alabama. At an early age, she confessed Christ and joined Friendship Baptist Church of Valley; and, after moving back home she reunited with her home church where she served faithfully.

She loved to travel and lived for many years in Louisville, Kentucky and Macon, Georgia. After many years of service, she retired from Brown and Williams Tobacco Company and then relocated to Lanett, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Leona Core; her two sons, Thomas D. Harris and Phillip M. Harris; a granddaughter, Danielle Harris; and, her siblings, Leon Bandy, Georgia M. Byrd and Lelia P. Walker. Ms. Dorothy Mae Harris departed this life on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia after a brief illness.

Her survivors include: three grandsons, Darius J. Brown, Sr., Macon, GA, Trevor Harris, Mascoutah, IL and Elijah Harris, Stockbridge, GA; one granddaughter, Bridget Harris, Mascoutah, IL; nine great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Monica Harris, Valley, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
