Rev. Dr. Claude Daniel Ingram was born in Columbus, Georgia on March 9, 1951 to the late James D. and Ellen Floyd Ingram. In 1969 he graduated from Spencer High School in Columbus, Georgia.
Dr. Ingram accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church under the direction of the late Rev. E. L. Battle and later affiliated with Macedonia Christian Miniseries under Rev. James E. Allen.
In 1979 Dr. Ingram earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Claflin University, Orangeburg, South Carolina with a major in Social Science Secondary Education. Dr. Ingram enrolled at the Interdenominational Theological Center / Morehouse School of Religion in Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned a Masters of Divinity Degree with honors in the area of Theology and Christian Mission.
While pursuing his education he became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. Dr. Ingram served in the United States Air Force as an Airman First Class for 4 years.
After completing his graduate studies he further pursed educational and professional development, by earning his Doctorate of Ministry Specialist Certificate from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. He also received a honorary Doctor of Letters Degree from the United Theological Seminary of Orlando, Florida.
He married Ballarie B. Banks on September 3, 1982. He served as the Pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia for 4 years. Later the family moved to Dayton Beach, Florida on June 1, 1985.
Dr. Ingram served as senior pastor for over 21 years at Mt. Bethel Institutional Baptist Church, and was a Professor of Religion and Philosophy for 35 years at Bethune Cookman University, Daytona Beach, Florida.
Dr. Ingram was a student centered educator who was passionate about the personal, educational, and professional development of his students. Dr. Ingram was loved and respected by his community, colleagues and students
On Sunday, November 8, 2020 God called his servant home to rest at Halifax Health Medical Center in Dayton Beach, Florida.
Rev. Dr. Claude D. Ingram affectionately known as "Dan", "Uncle Dan", and "Brother" by his family will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence Ingram and Ellis Ingram; grandparents, Parnella P. Ingram, Mattie Floyd, Frank Floyd; uncles, Frank Floyd Jr., Willie Floyd; aunts, Mattie M. McIntosh, Bennie Streeter, Zealia Mae Lawrence and brother-in-laws, Matthew Brown, Jr., Carl Newkirk, Cedric Raymond.
Those remaining to cherish his memory, include: his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Ballarie B. Banks Ingram; a son, Daniel F. Ingram; a granddaughter, Kayla Ingram; sisters, Carolyn Brooks, LaRue Brown, Janice Alexander (Joseph), Juanita Raymond, Esther Newkirk, Linda Livsey (Erik); an aunt, Mary Watts; an uncle, Charlie Frank Floyd; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service for Reverend Dr. Claude Ingram will be Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 12 PM in Progressive Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Green Acres Cemetery.
There will also be a visitation Monday, November 16, 2020 beginning at 1 PM and ending at 3 PM.
